Walking through Colonial and Modern Lima ...

Downtown Lima

Walking and taking some shots around downtown, you'll see around several 16th and 17th century buildings, among other attractions:

- Plaza de Armas
- The Cathedral
- The Presidential Palace (Former Francisco Pizarro's House)
- San Francisco de Asis Church & Convent
- The City Hall
- Plaza San Martin
- Justice Palace
- Buildings with Balconies from the XVI century
- Traditional Bars & Restaurants
- Chinese Town
- Parque de la Reserva - Circuito Magico de Agua (Water Park)
- Hotel Bolivar -1924

And so many more colonial details….... Oh! and why so many colonial details? ...well, 'cause Lima was the capital of the Spanish vice royalty.

We got inside the San Francisco de Asis Church, which is quite an interesting convent. Almost 90% of it is original and is amazing all it's details. There are Sevillian Paints and also Italian's oil paintings.  I really like this baroque church, and has also survived to several earthquakes since 1674.
There used to be a cemetery under the church until early XIX.  And so we went down and checked what's underground now.  It’s quite a labyrinth, the ceilings are very low with narrow passageways, not to mention the weird smell :P.
They calculate that there are aprox 25,000 bodies in there, and they haven’t even excavated the 50% of the catacombs.
We were walking and you can see the bones, skulls…. :S  and at some point a lady mentioned that since the place hasn’t been finished being explored, that we were practically walking over bodies :S … WTF!!!! :S …. Ahhh creepy! :S …. I needed some fresh air! Hahah

It was interesting to know that in there are still the rests of the viceroys relatives.

Then we kept checking other parts of the convent such as the library with stands made of oak.

**It’s not allowed to take pics inside the convent, but I found a couple on the internet**

The Magic Water Circuit
located in Parque de la Reserva, is the World Biggest Fountain's Park with 13 water art fountains.  It's a perfect place to enjoy with family & friends, just be sure to bring a towel or cloth to change.  Recommended to go at night as the fountains are lighted with colors & music.
This Park also has a Giant central geyser with a height of 80m.
