Arriving at a picturesque scenery

Svolvaer
Off we went on board of the ‘Harald Jarl’ at 1.30am and an exciting 11 hours long cruise to Sortland was lying ahead of us.

Of course, I was convinced that I wouldn’t ever close my eyes even for a second (why should I have been different from every other kiddy on earth?) but after fighting my tiredness I should fall asleep tucked in on a comfy deck chair hours later. But until then I was pretty excited and loved the stunning fjords, a lovely sunrise and calling at harbours in Finnsnes, Harstad and Risoyhamn.

At lunch time we left the ship in Sortland and drove to Melbu from where we took a ferry to Fiskelböl on the Lofoten, which are lovely islands and look almost as if they were created by a paintbrush.

The neat town of Svolvaer was our final destination, where we made ourselves at home in a hostel that was traditionally built on planks above the sea.
