Getting there …

The four of us met up in L.A. and had a terribly mediocre dinner at a recommended restaurant. Our Qantas flight was to leave at 10:30 … we boarded pretty close to that time. However, due at first to a very ill person who they had to take off and find their luggage and take it off as well, we were delayed. The next delay was because of some electrical switch or backup relay or something. That second delay added to the first kept us ON the plane and AT the gate for close to THREE HOURS. The flight was completely full and no, they do not supply slightly roomier spaces for these 15+ hour flights, unfortunately. Each of us probably slept two or three naps at 1 to 2 hours each. We arrived in Sydney very very tired.

The check-in for the ship went fairly smoothly, but also took considerable time … all of it seeming just a little bit longer due to our exhaustion. We have a really nice (and small) inside cabin with two single beds and two bunks that fold down from above each bed. Liz and Mimi volunteered to take the top ones.

Our bags arrived to our room after we went to the main dining area to eat a late lunch (casual, buffet-style). Then Liz and Mimi napped and Deb and Lori did some scouting. Our dinner time is during “second seating” which means we’re eating at 8:30 pm every night. Dinner was very nice (as expected) and we all headed back to our room and zonked out.
