Is someone singing Rawhide?
March 18, 2009
Wednesday we decided to drive into Galway on our way to the Cliffs of Moher. Much time wasn't spent here. We walked around for a bit, found a large park by the University. It was time for lunch so we made our way into a little pub (only because the manager was placing a menu on the window outside and he heard me say I was hungry in which he turned around and said it was fate; we were hungry and he had the best food in any pub around. How can you argue with that?) As we are eating lunch a familiar song comes on the radio. I can't seem to place it at first, but the other patrons in the pub become very excited and start humming to the tune. Then they start singing the theme song to an old western, Rawhide. Meredith and I look at each other for a moment and then we completely lose it and busted out laughing. We then proceeded to sing along. Afterwards, a couple at the bar ask where we are from and we tell them just north of Dallas. They became very excited (they seem to be easily excitable) and shouted at us, "Who shoot J.R.! We know Dallas!" We actually received that same reaction two other times during our trip.
