CN Tower
Well after our stop in Niagara Falls it was time to get back in the car and head for Toronto! Thankfully it wasn't too much further, not too much more than an hour! I was driving this time, and I must say I was really glad we rented! The Chevrolet Impala was a lot more comfortable and reliable than our dodgy Dodge Intrepid! On arrival in the city, we found our way to the hotel surprisingly easy! I think we stayed in the Marriott, and I remember it being very nice, and very business oriented. It was comfortable, and we definitely didn't have any complaints, although $20 a day extra for parking was a bit of a joke.

All the same it was worth it seeing as we'd only be using it for one day :)

We were exhausted when we got there (9 hours of driving and a day in Niagara Falls does that to you!) but we didn't have all that much time so we mustered up all the energy we had left and went downtown, which was within walking distance of the hotel. There was a wealth of Irish bars in Toronto, so we decided to get some comfort food in one! I think it was called the Irish Embassy and was right in the heart of Toronto. I remember the food being good, and we had a few drinks there too to relax for the evening. We then strolled through the streets before heading back to the hotel and getting a decent night's sleep.

To say we had a busy schedule on the Sunday would be a lie. We really didn't plan the trip at all, we just upped and went! The main focus was to go to the CN Tower, and to wander around Toronto for the day! The tower lived up to the expectations, and indeed surpassed them! Unlike similar places I've been to (Eiffel Tower, Empire State), there was lots of things to keep you entertained or at least reading while you wait in line.
Probably the best reflection in the world.
Plenty of facts and figures, and comparisons with other great towers around the world. The view was spectacular, rivalling any I've ever seen. The glass floor was a great idea, but I suffer from vertigo and I couldn't stand on it for more than 5 seconds. And even getting onto it in the first place was a struggle as my legs wouldn't budge! Jill has no fear of heights and she also said it was a very unnerving sensation, made worse by the kids jumping up and down on it! It allowed us to get some great satellite-type shots though!

Now we probably deserve a slap on the wrists for not seeing more of Toronto, but I'm not lying when I say that despite the fact that we spent less than 24 hours there, I truly loved the place. It is the type of place I could see myself living in some day! It is exceptionally clean, the people are friendly, it's not insane like Montreal, yet it has the European feel that I love about Canada.
You can't see, but there was some weirdo hovering around us while we were taking this photo! Nice pond though!
There also was a large number of Irish pubs around the city, which made it feel homely to us. Our focus on this trip was to see Niagara Falls, and as much as I loved them, I think the highlight was discovering Toronto! I'll definitely return for a proper visit in the future!

And yes, we are insane for driving from Boston to Toronto and back in the space of two days!
