Sigur Ros and Heima
November 3, 2007
Sigur Ros came to UCLA tonight to play an acoustic set and promote their film Heima. If you ever want an artistic foray into the villages, culture and most of all scenery of Iceland - and set to the glorious music of Sigur Ros - this is totally the movie for you!
I've been totally addicted to Sigur Ros since I came back from their concert. I don't know how to describe their music, it's a strange mix of peaceful, transcending and elating all at the same time. At first listen, it may seem somewhat sad or sleepy, but it's not at all. It's stimulating in a very odd way that I can't explain. I would totally love to have their movie Heima playing at all times. They're such low key but beautiful people with a lot to share and some amazing creativity. They truly play for the music and not for the stardom. I'm quite sure they would not care if they were playing to 5 people or 500,000 people.
Check out one of the videos I took during their set! So cool!!
What a fantastic day - Bill Clinton and Sigur Ros in one day! Only marred by accidentily running my car into a pole. I am soooo not allowed to have nice things, I've decided. Ah my poor car!

Empowering Change and Bill Clinton

Sigur Ros acoustic set at UCLA
What can I say, he's smart, he's funny and he's sincere. It's really hard to beat his caliber of politics. He sounded a bit tired but was evidently proud of the Clinton Foundation and impact its had on poor countries. He seemed very in tune with the sentiment of America (I guess that is what he is known for), and praised Al Gore for winning the Nobel Prize for his environmentalism, citing how many critics laughed at him for a long time over his beliefs.
It was great to see Bill Clinton live. The secret service were all around, and I have to say they are really sharp looking. My friend Karin and I were poking Noella, daring her to ask the secret service guy next to us to talk into his sleeve. =) Good times, good times.
