A beautiful day on Catalina

Traveled to the East Coast to meet Brett's family and then back out to the West Coast to see mine! We were in NY (my first time in NYC!), PA, MD, and flew back to Sacramento, drove to LA, and spent a day on Catalina Island. Whew..what a crazy week!

A beautiful day on Catalina

I love Catalina!  Growing up in So Cal, it was an easy getaway and always had such awesome weather, the walk streets were fun, and just a great way to spend a day.  We had decided to venture over there for the day and possibly spend the night.  My friend Silvina (silverv) decided to join us since she's never been and was in between jobs so it was a perfect excuse!

We left on an early boat and arrived around 11ish.  We wandered around the island, checked out the sites, Brett and I checked into our hotel room and then we eventually made our way to Steve's Steakhouse for an incredible dinner overlooking the water.

After absolutely stuffing ourselves with food (Brett had a 24oz Porterhouse and I had a petite Filet Mignon and Alaskan King Crab legs), we decided to walk off dinner a little more.  Soon it was time for Silvina's boat to leave since she was just joining us for the day.  We walked her to the terminal and then headed off to our hotel room where we both pretty much crashed since we were tired from the long week we'd had! LOL

Paradise Found!
Without a doubt, one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The room featured an ocean view and was elegantly appointed. Certainly not inexpensive (around $400 a night on the weekends), it is definitely worth it if you are looking for a romantic get away on Catalina. The jacuzzi tub and fireplace were amazing! I will admit we did not take advantage of the on site amentities but we thoroughly enjoyed the room and the accompanying views. Breakfast was included and we came back to our room to watch the sunrise while enjoying our bagels and coffee.

The hotel is located right in the middle of Avalon, very close to the casino and the downtown areas. The location is definitely great and the place was very quiet from what we noted. There are less expensive rooms but we were looking for the ultimate in romantic rooms and it seems we found it!

The one downside was the elevator was not working while we were there which meant hauling luggage up and down the stairs. No shuttle service to the dock either. Normally that would not be a big deal as the walk is not that far but we had a bunch of stuff with us, making it a bit of a daunting task to get back.

Overall, I doubt you will find a better room on the island, especially with the views, and perfect location. I recommend booking early as almost everything on the island was sold out 4 weeks ahead of time and it's not even peak season yet!
