Quick stop off
As with the Dennis family nothing is ever straight forward. An early taxi journey to Manchester airport for the first flight to Schiphol Airport, Netherlands before the main flight to NYC!
As with all connecting flights there is never enough time to justify leaving the airport and venturing to any local sights, the hassle of getting back through security just isn't worth it. However there is strangely plenty to do in the airport. Loads of shops, including your usual duty free but also ones selling local produce and knick-knacks. There is even a place for a massage if you fancy it.
After wasting a few hours, and moving gate (why do they always do that??) we boarded the biggest plane I have ever been on JFK.
NYC Finally!
After about 8 hours on the plane we arrived in NY about 5pm. Got a taxi from the airport, the driver was a star. He gave us running commentary on every place of interest and some place which weren't all the way into Manhattan, then he gave my Dad his personal number and told him if we needed him or had any problems give him a call. A nice touch, I know he probably wanted the fare, but he was genuinely a nice bloke.
We stopped in Greenwich Village, on W 11th and Bleecker, in the Murcucci and Caravaggion Appartments booked through West Eleventh Appartments. After unpacking and settling in we went for a walk round and for something to eat, can't remember the resturants name but it was on the corner of 10th and 4th, nice food but nothing to write home about.
