Palolem beach is a beach in Goa that has done well thanks to tourism without losing any of its original appeal or local way of life.
Since tourists first discovered this beautiful beach in Goa the only immediately noticeable difference is the number of shacks that have materialized on the beach itself selling food, drink and souvenirs of the region.
That said, there aren’t that many and the ones that are there do add to the appeal of this picturesque Goan beach, not detract from it.
The Palolem Goa beach resort is an incredible arch shaped bay, which keeps the sea relatively calm and safe for swimming and other water sports.
There are several little islands to the north of the headland and if you speak nicely to one of the local fishermen they will usually take you to the island and pick you up again later.
These islands are incredible for walking around and looking at the natural scenery and also give a superb view of the Goa beach resort of Palolem.
Because of its popularity, a few well placed but small hotels have risen from the ground but there are also beach huts and local shacks to rent or lease.
If you are looking to stay at this fantastic Goan beach for any length of time then you should consider renting accommodation.
It works out cheaper in the long run and also enables you to stay in the heart of the village or right on the shore, whichever is your personal preference.
The area can get busy with tourists on vacation, backpackers and even beachcombers but this gives the area a lively yet friendly feel, which makes it very appealing.
