Driving thru Tuscany

A lovely drive thru a beautiful countryside and such a shame that we didn't stop to take pictures. We did, however, stop in Luka at the Montecarlo Winery and Resturant. I'm not sure that's the official name but that is what I'm going to call it. After a quick tour thru the vineyard and brief narrative on the history of the location we were served an awsome lunch and we able to taste several wines produced on property. We were given 3 red and 3 white in various stages of aging. The light red was actually pretty good and cheap too. I brought 2 bottles back for friends. I'm generally not much of a red wine drinker, but Yum! They also served a sherry with desert (yuck) and grappa which I skipped entirely. Lunch was pasta, bread (why is all the bread in Italy hard?), brushutto, and extra virgin olive oil that was all grown and made there.
Then back on the bus to take a look at the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It's another one of those things that once you see it all the magic is gone. Like the Mona Lisa, ok I've seen it...let's move on. I may of had different feelings if we actually had time to go in. We were only there for an hour and we would have had to pay just to walk up the tower. Out tour guide said that it's not worth the expense or the wait to go to the top. The courtyard, or Field of Miracles, surrounding the Leaning Tower is disgustingly messy. I guess Pisa is kinda like a college hotspot. There were lots of kids playing soccor and throwing leaving their trash everywhere. The souvenir shops are kind of overwhelming but they were cheap. So do a good bit of shopping at that location, they had some of the best deals. And go all the way down and scope things out before buying. The vendors in the front were more expensive than those further down.
