Luxurious yet affordable 4 star hotel on the outskirts of Rotterdam
This Novotel Hotel is a four star hotel located within minutes of Rotterdam city centre, it has excellent transport links via car and train, with Schiedam Nieuweland station being around 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The Hotel itself is located in a quiet spot between Schiedam and Vlaardingen, although close to the main road between the two cities it is set back from the roadside so isn't noisy at all.
The rear of the hotel especially is a haven! Lovely, peaceful area with swimming pool, childrens play area, summer house, large patio/terras and even a pathway/running track around the hotel and meadows to the rear!
Within the hotel itself, the large open plan reception area is very welcoming with two playstation 2 consoles, separate childrens play area, seating area's leading into the bar and restaurant.
The rooms were extremely nice, large with quality fixtures and fittings. The limestone tiled shower room was a hit, very luxurious. An ample, Queens size bed, two seater sofa and coffee table, desk, flat screen TV and mini-bar. Chilled toblerone anyone? Mmmm. The key-card operated room in which my parents were staying was located to the west-side of the hotel overlooking the pool and terras, what more could they ask for.
I obtained the photo's of the yummy breakfasts from my parents and instantly my mouth began to water as my Dad took great delight in telling us about the array of different foods on offer. The hotel advertises itself as being mainly French cuisine but the breakfasts available were either typical continental, English - bacon, scrambled eggs, toast etc, or Dutch - various hams and cheeses with every type of bread you can imagine.
This hotel was such a hit with my folks, they have offered to pay for myself and Jaap to stay there one night next time they come to visit, as they will definately be staying here with Novotel again. On top of that they were offered a great deal with breakfast included in the price of the room.
The website offered special deals for two night breaks over the weekend but even though they were staying for four nights including one weekday they were permitted to book it as two, two night stays so worked out much cheaper. All in all, a fantastic hotel with extremely friendly staff and all the amenities any one can require - wireless WiFi internet connection(paying) safe deposit boxes both within reception and each room, gift/newspaper shop, currency exchange etc etc.
Languages spoken at the hotel are Dutch (obviously!) German, French and English. Check out their website at:-http://www.novotel.com/gb/hotel-0517-novotel-rotterdam-schiedam/index.shtml
Highly recommended.
