Getting back to nature at Ouddorp
Ouddorp is a lovely, old, little town on one of the islands just off the mainland of Zuid-Holland (South Holland). It's part of the municipality of Goedereede on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee. I love this island as there are vast, open area's of countryside, ideal for walkers and cyclists to lose themselves in.
Today we did exactly that, got back to nature and enjoyed a lovely chilled out afternoon - paddling in the sea, shell-collecting and crab-hunting in the various rock pools. The south-western tip of the island is where we spent the day with miles of great coastline and magnificent sand dunes to explore. We had a great walk for miles, not realising how far we'd gone til it was time to head our way back to the car.
Great views available from the viewing tower near the main car park, though I was the only one up there, don't think anyone else could be bothered in the blistering heat.
Looking forward to visiting the island again in a couple of weeks time for Tourists Day (or Terrorists Day) as locals affectionately refer to it as! As visitors from surrounding areas descend on this tiny town for a huge arts and crafts market.
