Exploring Leiden by boat

My folks were back in town! After a few days of horrendous humidity, where it was simply too hot to move, the overnight thunderstorm was greatly received, resulting in a much cooler but still pleasant day to enjoy a bit of sightseeing. We had ventured to Leiden together previously but we were keen to discover more of this great city. The number one priority on our list was definitely to enjoy a boat trip.

The weather had other idea's in mind though as the heavens opened yet again as soon as we departed Vlaardingen, feeling considerably under-dressed in my new little sundress! We didn't let this dampen our spirits however, first moseyed around a few shops before stopping for a spot of lunch at The Mayflower restaurant. After a long chitchat and a couple of beers, the sunshine emerged so off we dashed to check out the boat trips and promptly purchased tickets for the next departure. Worthy of a separate review, I would say this is the most enjoyable boat trip I have experienced here in The Netherlands, even superior to those in Amsterdam, for a fraction of the price and lasted a full hour. Highly recommended.
