The Big day
Today is the day I am leaving the UK for good to start a new life in The Netherlands with my Jaap. This has only been about a month in the planning so it still feels a little surreal, like I'm only going on holiday again. I've practically lived out of a suitcase for months, dividing my time between my home town in Yorkshire, London and The Netherlands so it will feel good to be settled and finally unpack my belongings somewhere!
I decided to bring my beloved car with me so it was a 6 and a half hour ferry trip for us from Harwich to Hoek Van Holland which I thoroughly enjoyed, gave us time to reflect and talk about our time together in London and the adventures that lie ahead of us.
We practically had the ferry to ourselves, it was brilliant.
We were the sixth car to enter the boat, a good 45 minutes before we were due to depart and I don't think many more joined us! We highly recommend using Stena Line ferries, the staff were lovely and friendly, up for a chit chat and the surroundings were lovely and plush. Plenty to keep us entertained with cinema, gift shop, gaming area with slot machines, plus several different style eating area's. Oh and don't forget the bar with huge screens showing the football. I was gagging for a pint but nope I have the drive at the other end :-(Although Jaap did offer to drive, I can't let someone else behind the wheel of my beloved motor! Besides I want to see what it's like driving on the 'wrong' side of the road - oh my god, what a nerve-wracking experience. Thank god we only live 20 minutes from the coast :-)
