Singapore.. Day 1

Singapore Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

A much needed getaway. Would you believe it's been over 12 months since I've been overseas! The main purpose of this trip is just to catch up with friends in Seoul, but I'll take in some of the rest of ROK. And I also have 3 nights in Singapore, with the main objective at the moment being trying to line up some new artwork for my arm =D

Singapore.. Day 1

Chinatown

I awoke in better condition than the day before. It all started after the moderate night with friends on Tuesday, after a few drinks I headed home and had a few more with my heavily intoxcated neighbour that I hadn't even talked to aside from the odd 'hello'... we have been neighbours for 2 years, haha.

Anyway, I awoke feeling like the proverbial the next morning. I had downgraded my health to where it was 2 weeks prior. My head was killing, I couldn't drink or eat since it just kept on coming back up within moments.

Serves me right for seeing how I would pullup even though the doctor suggested not drinking at all – the trip will be taken easy.

Once bitten and all that.

So yes, after swallowing 300ml of tea throughout the entire day before, I woke up pretty weak since none of it even stayed down. I forced myself to eat on the way to the airport at 6am, and that went down ok.

Would the flight be alright afterall?

It was a pretty empty plane – maybe one third full. Only trouble... I was sat next to someone, hmm.

I've never had the pleasure of being next to someone I didn't want to be sat next to before.

I wanted to move before we'd even started to taxi. Not because he was Icelandic, not because he needed a seatbelt extensionm but just because this guy seriously reeked like nothing I can describe.

Words just can't express the stench accurately.

Luckily, he was tired so he changed seats to claim a row on his own shortly after take-off. Only he came back towards the end of the flight to get me to help him with his immigration card since he didn't read English too well. Ahh... like I can speak Icelandic... we struggled on bastardised German, hmm.

So we land, I get all my gear and head off to tackle the MRT. Bypassing a black guy that didn't make it through Passport Control for some reason or another.

Easy is the MRT in anycase.

Easier to navigate than Perth public transport. And no comparison to Seoul obviously. Good stuff. Stress free.

After about an hour I alight and wander through Chinatown to find my hotel.

I knew the hotel was all about location and not amenities. Rightfully so. Tiny room, no adapter for the TV with one English channel on what claims to be Cable TV. May I say that this channel is on like a 2 hour loop and repeats constantly.

Had a shower – hot water ran out after literall 3 minutes. Now, I don't have hot showers, just 'aired'... so you work that one out.

Went for a wander to check in online – sort my tattoo out. Still no sketch for me, and as it happens, with not having the sketch, being sick yesterday, and just a general bad mood... I didn't bring my money for it anyway. Next trip to Singapore will have to do.

I so wanted this ink. It was getting me really excited. But you get that. Just gives me more time to think about it since it's such a major piece – 8-10 hours!

Had a quick bite on the way home and got to bed early – I'm talking asleep by 8pm, hah!

Zoo tomorrow, yay ^^
