Frogs and other slippery creatures...
Jalan-jalan.
Enough said really. I took it easy during the day, just wandered around. Bugis for the market. Had the intention of getting to Little India for lunch, but alas... I made the mistake of taking an air-conditioned detour for some respite and came out of the mall totally disorientated.
When I eventually relinquished my male stubborness and looked at a map, I had walked back from where I came and then some.. oops. Little India will be next time.
Grabbed a bite and double-checked the plans for tonight; familiarised myself with where I was meant to be, etc. And back to the hotel I go for a nap and to pack.
I intended on a few hours sleep and ended up with just about half an hour, if that.
Time came for me to get my butt down to City Hall so I could look out for two Asian girls, hmm. ... Easy?
Seriously, I was getting a sore head trying to take in everyones face – luckily they found me, hah.
We headed off for some eats at Gluttony Bay. A nice selection... KT, mee, satay, stingray... and some delectable little pearls only known as “gong-gong”. Wouldn't have a clue what they are, haha.
Kinda snail, kinda hermit crab, taste a little squid-like. Pretty ugly really... but quite tasty ^^
All washed down with a teh tarik, mmm, my favourite.
Post-dinner we wandered across to Clarke Quay with jay-walking aplenty.. tsk tsk.. naughty girls.
During the wandering we passed the Supreme Court, or was that the Houses of Parliament – a little dispute there, hah. Anyway, lit at night it's quite the spectacle.
Down at Clarke Quay we all passed on the reverse bungee/slingshot for various false reasons, hah. Met another friend and headed for a pre-game beverage.
One place we passed called “The Clinic” looks interesting. Wheelchairs, IV bags for cocktails. Nice theme really, quite the novelty.
Anyway, we drank and talked for a couple of hours, and with Winnie knowing the manager we had the pleasure of 'staff-discount'. Bonus.
After the decision being made on which club to hit up, we head off to it – Attica Too.
Winnie scored again – a four for one entry or something... Jeez... popular girl :P
Attica is a pretty good layout. Downstairs being hiphop/rnb, albeit badly mixed, and outdoor area to chillout a bit, and an upstairs playing more dance orientated tunes. Err, deep house through to a little trance with breakbeat overtones, hah... Pretty good DJ on the night actually. Forget the name though...
So with us being a 50/50 split decision between upstairs and downstairs, we agree to start downstairs since upstairs was still kind of quiet.
Enter the crowded hiphop arena, where cheap groping seemed to be the order of the day. Took me a while to find my feet – I hadn't danced to hiphop in like 18 months, haha. Don't know if I did find my feet actually :P
So after observing lots of white guys trying to get locals drunk for a while, we migrated upstairs. Hiphop room was still fun, just a little crowded to be able to move. Had the pleasure of an entertaining girl dancing quite violently – you know who I mean, haha. And a big guy dancing wildly and knowing the lyrics to every single track that was played.
So yeah, anyway.... upstairs.
We no sooner get onto the dancefloor and Winnie attracts a fan... the rest was fun to watch.
I personally learned a lot about French clubbing techniques in Singapore over the course of the evening, haha.
I can't even write about it, haha... Let's just say persistence in the face of rejection doesn't pay off.
Seriously though, it takes a bit of lunacy to come back so many times – no usually means no, not wait 20 minutes and try again.
In any case, my original plan of getting to bed for 2:30am disintegrated since I was having too good a time. Sleeping on the plane was looking like the more realistic option, hmm.
Dance dance until around 3:30/4:00 or so, head downstairs to escape froggy, a rest, relaxation, and a bit of chatting in the rain.
The girls are hungry by now, so we're off to McDonalds for breakfast and more talking, and of course... watching people falling asleep on their burgers, hah.
It all ends too soon, and we have to get a taxi so I can get my gear and shoot off to the airport.
I'm dropped off, farewells, the hotel manager eyes me suspiciously as I wander in at 6am.
A quick shower and change of clothes, and the hotel manager eyes me even more suspiciously as I check-out at 6:25am.
Off to the MRT for Changi.
But I must add – a big thank you to Jo and Winnie for showing me a great night out in Singapore ^^
