I woke up early and even though i felt a bit hungover, I wanted to get started on the sights. The other three guys weren't as enthusiastic lol. Thankfully, Siobhan texted me from the girls' room asking if i was awake (this became tradition for the trip as we were the early risers of the group. The two of us went to get breakfast and then went back to her room to eat it. When the other girls were up, we went to my room to get the guys. The 8 of us first walked around our hotel, getting to know it better. The Flamingo is a great hotel. It's not one of those hotels that you walk in to sight see but it was a great price and in my opinion, the best location on the strip (right in the middle). They had a nice garden area full of flamingos. I should say here that the weather was perfect the entire week (low to mid 20s).
We then decided to walk the strip, looking at all the hotels. Walking down the strip is an experience in itself. I felt like i was on a monopoly board. One minute i'm looking at the Eiffel tower, then the Stautue of Liberty. There are escalators everywhere outside which i thought was a genius idea. It gets the tourists off the roads. Also a new experience was the fact that you can drink in public here. It was weird seeing people walking down the street with drinks in their hands. The hotels were incredible. I loved Ceasar's Palace, the Venetian, Luxor, MGM, and of course the Bellagio. We saw the fountain show at the Bellagio (we returned multiple times). We got the obligatory Ocean's 11 photo shot looking at the hotel.
The casinos in the hotel were also an experience. We were carded everywhere we went ( i guess we look young). We were all 21 but it seemed weird being carded since we had been legal to drink in Canada for 3 years already. The smell of cigarette smoke also took getting used to since smoking isn't allowed inside back at home (we all got used to the smell after the first day or so). None of us were big gamblers and since we were all poor students we decided to stick to the quarter slots. Today we also had our first buffet. They say when you go to Vegas, you have to try the buffets and we were impressed lol.
After a full day of walking, we spent some time in the hotel hot tub (the pool wasn't open even though it was hot enough).
