Good friends

As we approach Timor Leste's 10th Anniversary of the referendum for independence there are more and more event happening around the place, some of them mean more work for me, others mean I should get away from the office and get back to what I love about travel -seeing what new places have to offer and how they feel about me being in their midst.

A bit of both these things were available to me when I took my two staff members to the trade expo on Tuesday.

The afternoon on the main stage was all about the ANZACs.  NZ and Australia were putting on a BBQ and the two countrys had lots of other positives to put in front of te visitors to the expo that would show the best of what we had to offer.

As far as the Kiwis were concerned the NZ Army cultural group put on a show.  It drew a big crowd as where ever the Haka is done people flock to see it.  In fact we have our Police Medal Parade planned for October and we have already started practising three times a week to polish our own Haka for that.  We only have one Maori in our ranks though so we really can't pull it off like the Army's Kapa Haka group which is made up entirely of Maori people.

It was a great hour of entertainment followed by a tug-o-war demonstration by the Aussie forces and several other sporting events that we couldn't stay to watch.
