First day in Boise

I made drastic changes to come to Boise...original plans were to attend the South by Southwest in Austin (which I missed last year). But at the last minute I had some college friends from our alma mater (MISSOURI UNIVERSITY) talk me into going to Boise to watch our school play in the championship tournament. Hopefully, I won't go home disappointed. My first day here had to be spent wisely because beginning on Friday I will be at Taco Bell Arena to watch the teams. In the Boise bracket, the teams are: Missouri, Cornell, Marquette, Utah State, Florida State, Wisconsin, Xavier, and Portland State. On Sunday, Missouri will play their second game...providing they win on Friday. This is a win and advance...or lose and go home tourney.

So on my first day here I did a lot of walking around downtown taking pics, and after the sun went down we started checking out the hottest clubs.

..Hannah's gets our vote! I must say, Boise is a pretty cool little city. I always enjoy the cities with mountains as a backdrop, and Boise has them. We returned to our hotel (the Hotel 43, which I'll do a review on to help explain the name) around one am. In the morning we will go to the arena in time for the first game, which starts at like 9 am.

And now for some background on Boise...

The name Boise comes from the French word boisé, which means "wooded".  Boise is the capital of Idaho and the largest city in the state. It is the commercial, financial, and cultural center of the northern Rockies region. Known as the "City of Trees," Boise is among the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the nation. At the same time, the city has maintained a high quality of life through cooperation between business, government, and citizens. An easy blending of historic structures and modern buildings in the downtown district attests to the fact that Boise remains close to its Western heritage while moving with the times. Noted for its mild climate, clean environment, and friendly people, Boise is set in a fertile agricultural area called "Treasure Valley." The estimated population of Boise is around 200,000, while the metro area boasts somewhere near 650,000.
