We met another local guide today and took a tour of Budapest, saw both the Buda and Pest side. Both are beautiful I might add. We went to the Royal Palace which was gorgeous and had amazing views over at Pest! After that we went to lunch, Kerry and I decided on <gasp> Burger King, yep we ate BK, and it was freaking good!! Then we took a trip to Szentendre which is an artist village outside of Budapest. It was pretty cool, we visited the Marzipan museum. Now I personally don't like to eat marzipan but seeing it made into art was damn cool and I took like 1,149 pictures of it, you've been warned because I'm posting every last one of them :) We then went and looked at a church I honestly can't tell you what church it was, I was a little churched out at this time, lol, I'm a castle girl.
After that it was shopping time, I had been pretty responsible thus far on this trip but I had decided I wanted a Hungarian top no matter what and I wanted some glass/pottery from Hungary. Kerry's not much of a shopper so I separated from her and ended up shopping with Ying because she was also looking for a top. We both ended up getting ones we liked and when we got back on the bus we discovered that Sharon had also gotten a shirt. We were going to a traditional Hungarian night out that night and we decided that we were all going to wear them. We then talked Kerry into buying one as well so the 4 of us could all go in our new shirts, lol.
The traditional Hungarian night was amazing!! The food.... words can't not begin to describe what it was like. We started of with goulash which I had never had but now I'm a huge fan of!! Who new paprika could be so tasty, then they set this huge wooden platter of smoked turkey, sausages, beef, potatoes, pasta etc in front of us, there were 6 us at the table and we could not finish this food.
God knows we all tried tho, lol. The night was made even better because we ate with Sharon and Paul and Mick and Kerry from Australia. We had met them in Berlin and had been hanging out with them pretty much the whole trip. I think that's another reason why this trip was so amazing, the different people we met. I still email Kerry and Sharon and they are actually getting together in early Sept and we will be talking on the phone, I'm so excited, they were really great people with wonderful senses of humor. On the way home Franco our driver played some disco music and we had a little stobe light effect going on, such a good night. Oh and on a side note, I saw this really cool bar on the way to dinner that you had to go thru a coffin door to get inside, now how cool is that :)
