Leaving West Palm Beach for Cairo
Beautiful Chaos is what comes to mind when I think back about my trip to Cairo. I once heard a tour guide say "Cairo is a place you get in and get out fast," I disagree I think Cairo is the "Pulse," or "Heartbeat" of Egypt. A big bustling city, yes it is but in there lays a concrete foundation of culture, which you can not miss.
The people in Cairo show a type of generosity that you can not truly experience many other places in the world. Every store I entered, I was offered coffee, tea and sometimes a cigarette! I have never been invited to dinner so many times in my life from random people. It truly was a humbling experience.
My parents were very afraid for me to go to Cairo, but I did not listen to them obviously. I never once felt threaten or in an awkward situation, and I wore what I wear in the United States. No one bothered me; no men whistled or made suggestive motions towards me. I actually got the most stares from women. I remember being out in non touristy spot in Cairo, and 3 little Muslim girls came up to me as I was sitting down and started touching my red hair! I was not alarmed, just amused. I guess Red is Rare there lol!
Of course I saw the Pyramids! They were incredible and titanic! Ancient to Modern Egypt has beauty through the ages! A must see place!
