The next day I also had to go to Mexico City to sign for the scholarship and when I was back in Chihuahua airport, I saw a lot of people wearing Dio T-shirts and bringing CDs. I asked one of them what was going on and he said Dio would be in town for a concert. I was like really?? Woooow!
I didn’t have any Dio collectible in that moment, but I waited for him to sign at least my boarding pass. It wasn’t long before Rock N’ Roll's best voice was coming out of the arrival area wooooooooow I was in front of one of my favorite rock gods!!
I have to say that one of the best things about Dio was his humbleness. The man was a total legend, yet he would always treat his fans respectfully. I remember I said to him “I have followed you since you were in Elf”, to what he replied “Thank you Sir” wooow I will never forget those words.
I took a few pictures of him, but I regretted not asking him to have a picture WITH me. I am sure he wouldn’t have said no.
Of course right after that I went buying my tickets for the concert, which I attended with my brother. OMG what a cool and unforgettable experience. I had the chance to see him again in concert with Black Sabbath a year later.
I felt so sorry the day I heard the man passed away after a long battle against cancer. I am sure he is resting now. His legacy will go on and on and on and on...
