Entering Zion National Park
Arriving at Zion National Park from the east side, we first made a stop to get some stuff for our picknick in the park. It was a nice little store with all the stuff you need for a good meal. Outside were litlle hummingbirds flying around pretty fun to watch as you don't see them in Holland. After grocsery shopping it was a couple of miles to the entrance of Zion. There we showed our Anual national park pass, got our map and drove into the park. Once we enterd we saw amazing scenery all around. It was hard keeping my (dennis) eyes on the road there was so much to see outside. We also drove thrue some pretty long tunnels in the mountains. We slowely drove downhill towards the Zion visitors centre.

Here we got some information of stuff to do in the park. We finally dicided to walk the 1 mile lower Emarald trail, because we weren't prepared for 'heavier'stuff. But before we left we had our picknick at one of the picknick areas outside the visitors centre. We had a sandwich, some beef cherky and some fruits and drinks.
Then we took the shuttle bus up to Zion Lodge were the trail started. Weather was nicey sunny and it wasn't to hot. The trail was a nice walk not to far but nice scenery. It took us about an hour to the lower pools and back. We shot some great pictures there. Once back we had a drink at the restaurant. After that we took the bus back to the visitors centre. Because it was getting pretty busy around the Zion area and we didn't booked a hotel, we left the park in the south west side and drove into Springdale, just a mile from the west entrance of Zion.
The pool, and NO the back ground is real!!! it's not a movie set
There were many hotels there, but ofcourse lots were already booked.
We finally got a room at the Desert Pearl Inn Motel in the middle of springdale. They had only one room left, the disabled people room. the showed it to us and it was perfect and BIG!! We took the room and unpacked our bags for the night. We were pretty early and went for dive in the pool and some remaining sunshine. We had a good time. The view from the pool (and jacuzzi) was amazing it looked too perfect with those zion hills on the background.
After swimming we had a shower and went for some souvenier shopping and mexican food. We also bought some beer the drink when we were back in our room. It was a good day and night in Zion. To bad we had to leave again in the morning!!!
