Ni'be'ile bi'dh bia gan deoch...a meal is not a meal without a drink!
Jack Quinn's Motto: Ni' be'ile bi'dh bia gan deoch....a meal is not a meal without a drink! Their website is www.jackquinnspub.com
Jack Quinn's was the send-off bar for us Air Force Reserves back in 2005, the night before I departed for Baghdad, Iraq.
I met Melissa (Poorogies) and John and Janice (janicetenile) at Jack Quinn's after I finished my day of teaching young minds at Peterson Air Force Base, and my skin was noticeably red from being exposed on the flight line to the elements...and reveals (as it does every year) my Irish, Swedish, Norwegian and German lack of ability to retain a decent tan! I shall never have one.
...nope, just different shades of red!!!!I thought Melissa was kidding when she showed up with her sister. I have many "sisters" on TB (you know who you are!), but never knew that Melissa was serious. Also, I found out that Mel and Janice were both born in Arizona! And then they moved to Michigan, and now both reside in Colorado. I think that is grand that Melissa and Janice have lived in so many different states together! Also, John is an Arizona native....so chalk a few points up for acowboy, Africancrab, and the rest of the Arizona TravBuddies!!!!
John, Melissa and Janice were exceptional hosts, and allowed me to blab away that I am akin to doing.
In fact, I was blabbing so much about my day, that I looked down, and everybody but me was already done eating! So what is missing out of the food photos are John Quinn's fabled fish and chips....John and Melissa shared a large order, Janice a single order.John is now becoming acquainted to TravBuddies, or at least the likes of me! Last month John and Melissa brought me to a fabulous Thailand restaurant near the school that Melissa teaches at....and I am STILL waiting for Mel to upload the photos of that meeting! Ahahahhahahahha! Ok, everybody give Poorogies some grief about that, please!!!
John, Melissa and Janice, as I said, were great hosts. We did a serious beer review. I started out with a Smithwicks, Mel and John with a Black and Tan's, and Jan I think an Easy Street? I recall drinking a 1554 and a 5 Barrel, and sampled the 90 Schilling, one of Melissa and Janice's favorites.
20 ounce draught pints are $5 USD, and 16 ounce draught pints are $4.50...so twist my arm and give me the extra 4 ounces, please!!!!John and Mel told me that there is a running race, every Tuesday at Jack Quinn's. The runners meet upstairs, do their run throughout town, and meet back at Jack Quinn's for spaghetti afterwards. What a wonderful way to start out the evening! Fitness first, ending with great food and camaraderie afterwards!
Speaking of food....and now you know how much I rambled on when I was with John, Melissa and Janice...the Shepherd Stew was fabulous, even more so with the host of fabulous beers I was sampling!
I have nothing but great praise for Jack Quinn's, their superb hospitality, their excellent food, and their great beers. If you are in town on a Thursday night, that is when the sing-along band is there...I highly recommend you stop in and join in the chorus!
