We played 20 questions and f (f***), kill, or marry for quite some time. In no time, we'd turned off highway 37 and were at Bear Glacier. It was just there, right next to the highway. As if it were nothing! We stopped at King Eddy's for the most sumptuous burger I've ever had. The King Eddy burger had a beef pattie, an egg, ham, bacon, tomato, lettuce, pickles and mayo. And mushrooms. And it came with season fries. I didn't think we were going to make it through our burgers but we persevered.
We drove straight in to Hyder, Alaska and walked around.
At the picnic spot, you can see up into the mountains, where the glacier originates from. We found a huge rock to sit and read on and just enjoyed the sight. Since we had our kitchen with us, we took advantage of an opportunity I can't imagine ever having again: we had dinner at the glacier.
Great quote from the day: "Yes you ARE a big glacier. Who's a big glacier? You are!"
Yes, she was literally talking to the glacier.
