Woodies of the Forties and Fifties

The forties brought many Woodies to life.  Ford and Chevy were joined by Plymouth, Chrysler, Dodge, Mercury, and Buick, all of which were represented at the gathering.  I spent lots of time trying to take as many good pictures of them as I could. It isn’t ever day that you get a chance to see so many classics in one place.

One of my favorites was one owned by the Buckwalter family.  It was rigged up with all of the accessories of the day and ready for an outing as people did in those days. There was an air conditioner mounted in the passenger side window, an extra water bag hung on the front bumper, fog lights, a rack on top with a canoe, fishing gear, and a table and picnic basket and toy car for the kids. They had their 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster ready for a good trip.
