Karvina, Czech Republic
February 26, 2009
The next town/village we drove through in Czech Republic was Karvina. Apparently it was a very important coal mining regions in the Czech Republic. With some other neighboring towns, it forms the Ostrava-Karvina Coal Basin.
One of the first things I noticed about this region was it seemed much more industrial than other towns and villages we had driven through on this trip. There were numerous industrial buildings along the main road and apparently it is known for being a heavy industry region, not to mention a education center for Czech Republic.
There are a number of notable people who are from this area including several atheletes, writers, and models.
