Sea Lions
The first time I ever went to the Bay Area was in August 2001 and even then it was very cold and windy!! I Went back on February and it was cold too but at least this time I was prepared for it!! That first time I went I didn't have a digital camera so I don’t have too many pictures!! :(
I love the feeling of big cities and San Francisco has something special and that is that although it is a huge city it has its own identity with the architecture and the townhouses, the cable cars, the steep hills, and lots of green areas. Downtown has a few tall buildings but not the kind of skyscrapers that you see in New York.

Since my sister lives in San Jose is only a 45 min drive or 1hr and 20 min by train. Also, once you pay for the bus fare you can keep your ticket and ride the bus all day long! and I found out about this the last time I got on it!
I enjoyed my visits to Alcatraz and the tour that you can listen to in several languages lets you go at your own pace inside the prison. I think from here is the strongest wind in the whole bay!!! I kept saying that if I had been an inmate @ Alcatraz I wouldn’t get out of my cell to exercise with the cold weather! and I just kept thinking on the supposed prisoners that escaped making a tunnel with a spoon! there is no way anyone can swim in that cold ocean and not die of hypothermia!
My favorite site @ Fisherman's Wharf and the Pier 39 is the area where the sea lions are hanging out on the sun! I couldn’t stop taking pictures of them! I’m not a real seafood lover but everyone loves to eat the fresh seafood around here.

I missed the Ghirardelli factory but I will go next time. I'm sure I will come back to this area soon. I also want to go to Napa and the rest of wine country! maybe in August. I have a free ticket on southwest to go anywhere they fly to and it would probably be California. I love the rewards from SW! if you don’t have an account with them do it and you get 2 rewards for getting a number. Also Each roundtrip is 1 reward and with 16 rewards you get a free round-trip! no worries about how many miles you flew or need. Just simple and they fly so many places (cheaper too)!
Union Square is my favorite place for shopping in San Francisco!!! The Macys here is huge! I think is an 8 floors building. My last visit we spent it walking around Union Square and china town instead of the typical Fisherman’s Wharf stop.
