Wow, Xuexiang is a beauty. Snowcapped huts and forests. We saw vastless and gorgeous landscape of pristine snow.
But our staying experience was really bad. Well, it was China travel golden period remembered. Each lodge accomodation has limited rooms, around 5-6 rooms with no toilet attached. Though we were travelling in 5, with 2 ladies, we thought we could cram in together for just a night. But they forcefully split 30+ of us into 2 main gender groups, and squeezed in 6 people to a room! It will be very bad if you went alone, cos you will be made to sleep with 5 other strangers together on a big-sized bed! Even families were separated.
Well, i guess if we have travelled during the off peak seasons, the stay would be more memorable. When you opened your room door, right infront of you is a gigantic bed - imagine a raised ledge from the floor, that is the exact length of the room length. The bed is heated and covered with a huge blanket, and flunked by 5 neatly arranged set of pillows at the exteme end. That's a typical room in a Xuexiang lodge.
We went on a mini tour around the surrounding of Xuexiang, and enjoyed even more for the idle village night walk. It can be seen that Xuexiang has pretty much heavily dependent on tourism. The village was swamped with tourists, and all lodges were fully booked!
Our dinner was as usual, crammed in a huge table of 10 strangers. Though the dishes were very simple veg and meats, we truely like them. They were so delicious. Even my bowl of rice was so nice that each of us guys whooped out at least 3 bowlful of rice! Now, this is what locals usually say, Dongbei rice is the best in China, and I have to truely concede to that!
