Coming over the ridge line I felt a blister, something in my boot, so I stopped & checked that. Finding the cause, I pulled it out & kept going. A large noise to my right, coming over the rock, startled me. It was Cornbread, who had been reading on the rocks all day and had chosen that moment to resume his hike. Small world, damn! So here we were again, moving together like before, but honestly what the hell are the chances!?
We called it an easy day. He was feeling lazy and my feet, now with 3 dime-sized blisters, hurt. So tomorrow or the next day rather we decided we would push. The goal, close to 30 miles.
I bandaged my feet as well as I could and we were off.
About 13 miles out we stopped at Rausch Gap for lunch and here began the 1/2 gallon talk.
New plan: PA 72 --> Ice cream! We hiked to RT 72 and hitched to Lickdale for our ice cream. Mmmm... Moose Tracks! Cornbread finished in 43 minutes. I needed a 2nd attempt. Cornbread felt awful. I felt great!
