Jon hiking with Jenny
On the afternoon of April 24th, Jon reached Palmerton PA and landed at his Aunt Deb and Uncle Dave's house in nearby Kunkletown.   He celebrated his birthday there on the 25th.  Over the next couple of days did a some of day hikes, including one with his cousin Jenny, and one with his 8 year old 2nd cousin Nicholas.
On the 27th, Jon went in to the Towamensing elementary school and gave a presentation to a class of 4th graders.  He introduced himself: "Hi, my name is Jon and I'm hiking on the Appalachian trail." Then he pointed to his pack and said "this is my house."  He told them about hiking the trail and showed him the stuff in his pack.  He pulled out his cook pot (which contained his squishy bowl, utensils, and whisperlite stove) and said "and this is my kitchen."  By all accounts the kids had a great time and a few of them made a pact that when they're old enough they're going to hike the trail together.
On Wednesday the 29th, Jon's uncle Dave dropped him off at Wind Gap, PA (the point he had reached on his day hikes) and he set off for New Jersey.
