The next morning, Russell and Ali left very early, worried that Russell might have strep throat and needed medical attention in town. Jon and I packed up and hiked about 3 miles toward the Killington trailhead to catch the bus back to Rutland.
In town, Jon and I visited an EMS to discuss what he should do about his broken Big Agnes mat. We also stopped once again at Walmart to get Jon a supportive slip-on ankle brace to help the angry and inflamed joint, and the Back Home Again cafe for lunch, owned and operated by a group of the 12 Tribes communes. What a beautiful place, and incredible people. We thoroughly appreciated their hospitality and delectable food!!!
Eventually, Jon and I made it to the Highlander Hotel on North Main. We showered, got organized, and cooked our last trail dinner on the pocket-rocket stove in the room! Atlantic Salmon packets, and lemon-pepper noodles with veggies. There was too much of it, and we couldn't finish it. Jon wanted to see about possibly getting back into town to see 'Star Trek' that evening, but by that point the bus had stopped running and we didn't feel like walking into town at that hour or after the movie to get back to the room, so we stayed in and watched House on TV. We checked in with Josh, Maria and Mike about the drop in the morning and finalized the meeting before we turned in. What a 'boring' night! :P
