Chengdu Panda Breeding Centre 14 December 2008
The Panda Breeding Centre was huge; it was also built on rather a steep hill surrounded by beautiful bamboo forest. The park is built with several enclosures where the pandas are kept in as natural habitat as they can, a lake-land, museums, gift shops and a cinema (breeding program). Try to get there as soon as it opens at 8am because pandas sleep most of the time and are only active in the early morning. The area was beautiful to walk around. The baby pandas behind the glass window (inside the nursery) were adorable. We were not allowed to take pictures because the flash would cause distress to the baby animals. I take a quick video and some pictures of the baby while my husband kept an eye out for the guards. It is amazing and a privilege watching the sub-adult pandas playing with each others (see video). The older pandas are lazy, simply sat back eating bamboo and occasionally get up to fetch more.
To be able to hold one of these pandas of course there is a price to pay.
The
There isn't much things to say about this park, it is beautiful, it is a nice place to escape from the crowds. I would only recommend you to come here if you have that extra time to spend, traditional architecture and bamboo trees-which you can see elsewhere.
