Flo on the Vapretto
Our day started by checking out of our B&B in Rome and by going to train station via the 64 bus. We had a good site seeing tour in Rome even if it was a little hectic regarding the public transit. It was one place where we pretty much had to rely on the buses to get around. But we managed to see most of the sites we wanted to.

We went to Venice with a 4 hour train ride. Once we got to Venice, we had a quick sandwich at a place called Brek. We also bought our ticket on the night train for Salzburg the following day. We left Venice at 9 PM the next day and get in to Salzburg at 4 AM (yuck).

After buying our ticket, we hopped on a Vapretto to go to St.

Mark's Square. We were listening to a Rick Steves Podcast while going down the Grand Canal. The first vapretto, water bus, we were on was going past most of the stops so it was too fast for the podcast. We got off on the Rialto stop because the vapretto didn't go any farther. We ended up switching to the slower vapretto. It was an interesting budget tour of the Grand Canal.

We checked into our hotel and had a brief nap. Then we went back out to explore Venice and find the TI. We went around St. Mark's square and the Rialto bridge. We also ended up buying groceries and snacks and taking them back to our hotel. They had some very tasty treats in the store especially the Ritter sport chocolate wafer bars. We were coming very close to spoiling our supper.

We decided to have supper at a restaurant called La Mascareta. This restaurant was highly recommend on Trip Advisor. We were greeted by the host and we asked about the specials and he basically made our order for us. The first dish was mussels, clams and some other kind of shell fish. It was very tasty. Flo ordered wine and the host found Flo a sweet wine that she really enjoyed. My second dish was spaghetti with cuttlefish. Flo had spaghetti with baby clams. We both found it very tasty and filling, so we didn't have dessert.

We walked around Venice at night. It was very nice to walk around places in Venice with no one else around. We walked around the St. Marks Square and we walked to the Accademia bridge. It was a very nice night in Venice.
