Fiumicino
Before I knew it we were descending. Why do I always think that this and takeoff are the most dangerous parts of the flight. I have visions of all those people standing on the wings of a plane a few weeks ago on the Hudson River... Anywyay, it's a passing thought. I don't notice if we arrive on time or not. It really doesn't matter. I'm just glad to be here!
My first glimpse of the ground below is rolling green hills with large patches of yellow wildflowers. The landing was one of the softest I've ever felt. You could barely feel it when we touched down. The airport didn't make much of an impression on me. Plenty of shops and lots of people. A little shabby. Finding the train into the city is not a problem at all: just follow the signs! The one-way ticket costs 11 Euros. I think you can also do it by metro, but it would take a very long time. The non-stop train took about 40 minutes, so the metro with a bunch of stops would take well over an hour.
