Aveiro, Portugal
We had time to kill after checking out of the hotel, so we took a train ride to Alverio, which is an hour train journey south on the coast. A nice day was in store, weather wise, with clear blue skies and a nice temperature of 25c. We got to Alverio, and found out that there was not actually much to do. It was mainly shopping, shopping, shopping and a few canals to walk along. The train station was also an art galley with pictures painted on white tiles, all patterns done in blue colour.
After an hour we took the train back to Porto, and went straight to the shopping district. It was ok. Olga looking for some clothes and shoes, but had no luck. Had lunch in Pizza hut, which the garlic bread with cheese was a lot better than England.
So, after that, back to airport and fly home, which was a bad journey home, not only that we left Porto late, but took us 2 hours to get to Stansted (instead of 1hour 35 minutes) as we were hitting winds of 125mph and turblance at 38,000 feet.
And then we were in the holding area over Anglia region of England with ten other planes for around 30-45 minutes trying to get a clear landing onto the runway. This was due to dense fog! Doh! We landed evenutally, but did an emergency stop and only used half of the runway instead of the full length.Eventually got home after 3am, instead of 12am! Doh! Oh well, we home. Night.
P.S - Portugal, the northern parts, are very nice. Nice people, not many speak English, sights are okay, but a few days is all you need. A lot of French back packers come here during the summer...not sure why?
