Derek and his niece Ema enjoying the snow :)

Originally I was supposed to only stay in London for 1 week, and fly home to New York.  But, as I decided to extend my stay in London, I went down to visit my friend Derek in Dublin and finally experience the Dublin nightlife, something I didn't get to experience the first time in Dublin.

Derek told me that I didn't have to worry about anything, that he will take care of everything, and as I was brought up to think that one cannot go into a home as a guest empty handed, I stopped and bought a bottle of Jameson for Derek's Family as a 'thank you' for their hospitality and kindness...  Upon meeting me and seeing the gift that I had brought, Derek responded, 'my mom is going to LOVE YOU!'

Now I will always have a place to stay while in Dublin :D

I got to meet Derek's family, his mom, his cute as can be nieces Ema and Meagan, and his brothers.

..  We got a chance to chat a bit about life, business, and ofcourse the Ireland - France Rugby match!  Now I will be honest that I didn't know much about rugby and I had no idea what the Six Nations Cup was before today, especially how much of a big deal it is...

I was wondering why my ENTIRE plane was filled with french people coming over to Dublin, now I know why.  After enjoying the stew and mash potatoes that Derek's mother made, as well as some of her Irish coffee, it was off to a few pubs!

After going to the neighborhood pub, and dropping back a few, we pub hopped a bit, before meeting up with Derek's friends in a club at about 1am... We partied, drank til the club closed at 2:30am (a very good night)

Now I had a flight to catch early in the morning so I went to bed.

Dublin at Night
.. Upon waking up, I discovered that it snowed quite a bit over night, and we didn't have too much time to catch my flight.  Being that it was a Ryanair flight, it was not going to be cancelled, so we had to hurry.

I my usual fashion, I was late to my flight...  While on the bus to the airport I look at my watch its 11:00, my flight gate closes at 11:25am (Ugh)  I race through the baggage screening line, bypassing EVERYONE! Ofcourse my flight had to be in the furthest gate possible, and using every bit of energy I had, I got to the gate ontime.... only to discover that the flight was delayed 1 hr, I LOVE RYAN AIR!

It was a very good weekend, wish i could have stayed in Dublin longer, thank you again to Derek and his family for making me feel right at home :D

Hmmm I was certain I made a comment on this one before but dont mention it Jeff. You know it was an absolute pleasure to have you over, and this time for more than 6 hours!
As I say, once I get my own place, you will always have space on the couch!
