A bit poetic though amidst the heavy mist
Huang Shan, has an epic saying that runs with the locals - "岳'来不看山, 黄山'来不看岳 which literally describe the utmost beauty of Huangshan in comparison with 5 other sacred mountains in China. After visiting the 5 superb mountains, you would never want to visit any other mountains. After returning from Mt. Huangshan, you would never wish to visit the 5 sacred mountains. Well said right.

The 5 sacred mountains here, basically refer to
1. Mt Taishan, in Shandong province
2. Mt Huashan, in Shan'xi province (near Xi'an)
3. Mt Hengshan , in Shan'xi province
4. Mt Songshan, in Henan province
5. Mt Hengshan,in Henan province

Not to forget, Mt Huangshan is under UNESCO World Heritage too!

*If you are planning to visit Jiuzaigou and Huangshan, would suggest traveller to plan for Huangshan first then to Jiuzaigou.
Clear sky from after the rain
Reason being, I've been fully entralled by Jiuzaigou fairyland-like sceneries, and 2 years after, when I made my trip to Huangshan, it was indeed captivating, but the awe i've experienced would not surpass my Jiuzaigou's.  And the inspiration still entralls me up to now.

* And be mentally and physically prepared for the strenous hiking you be encountering. For the adventurous, you can hike to the peak. Less adventurous and reserving energy for sightseeing on the peaks of the mountains, you can opt to pay for a causal cable car up to mid-peak of Huangshan

Got a local tour package that includes a night stay up in Mount Huangshan. It was a very long coach ride starting early from Shanghai, and when we reached Huangshan city, it was already near 3pm. We were pure lucky that we managed to take the cable ride, as subsequently later of the day, the cable rides were suspended due to bad weather!

Well, first day weather was bad - cloudy and misty. By evening, the rain has cleared part of the mist though.
