Night on the town

I tried to meet Zvonka after work each day, when I could get off my deathbed... This afternoon I had ended up walking far out of town, so tonight I had to rush to meet Zvonka after work. We decided to go on our big date to a little Indian restaurant that I'd seen the day before.
Now Zagreb isn't like San Diego where there's 10 different ethnic restaurants on each block... there are a total of, according to a Google search, TWO Indian restaurants in Croatia. There are about a million Croatian restaurants, with the same menus, most of which serve only meat dishes, so Z was really happy that there was a whole page of vegetarian dishes here since she's about the only vegetarian in the country.
Earlier in the afternoon, I'd managed to get off my deathbed long enough to ride the bus downtown and go for a walk.
The Indian food was actually really good - spinach with paneer cheese, really spicy chickpeas, rice, and nan. It must be really difficult getting all the spices and ingredients to make a pretty extensive menu of dishes here, most of it would need to be specially imported.
Even though it was a really nice restaurant with good food, no one was eating there, I guess weird, foreign food isn't popular there. The Indian chef spoke English and was really excited that Zvonka was looking at his shrine and collection of little god figures, he named all of them - Vishnu, Ganesh, Shiva... They probably don't usually go over real well in an all Catholic country. He had an even bigger smile when she knew who they were.
