I know that Toraja is famous for its funeral tradition. But on this day, we're planning to do something different, which is...white rafting!
Toraja's White Rafting
Early in the morning, the rafting's operator, Indo'Sella, already picked us up at our hotel. We're planning to raft in Mai'ting river, in local language means the river that never runs out of water. From Pia Poppies to the starting point in the hill took about 2,5 hours. The interesting part in this 2,5 hours trip is that we got the chance to enjoy Toraja's beautiful sight with green padding field everywhere and the exotic local village. Believe me 2,5 hours felt so quick!
Up in the hill, we arrived at this base camp.
Although it was soo tiring...I did enjoy it! The view was breathtaking! Just imagine, trekking to the forest where you could see cocoa plant, coffee and others wildly live! These eyes really have been pampered by green view... From up here, I could see the Mai'ting river with many waterfalls! Wooowwww!
After 1,5 hours trekking through the forrest, we arrived at this starting point.
Rafting in Mai'ting river was awesome! Quite an adrenaline rush for 3 hours! The river is still clean with greenish water, green view, and beautiful waterfalls to see. At the finish line, we began to see padding field and sometimes buffaloes eating and drinking from the river.
After rafting, we continue the journey to the local village. Lucky for us, there's a little local party for welcoming one of the legislative candidate. They held a cooking competition. Cooked one of the local culinary called 'Papiong'. It was made from coconut milk, beef, and boiled in bamboo. Very yummy! After that, they had a little game for children. it called 'Silaga Ulu'. It was a game perform by children, a bit like wrestling but not that harsh. It was fun seeing them performed that game:)
