Lindau & Friedrichshafen, Germany - Return Journey
On leaving Bregenz, the sun was setting over the Lake of Constance. With a clear sky and very few clouds, the sky lit red. It was amazing. I got some excellent shots from the window. Lindau was only ten minutes away, so when we arrived back in Germany, we ran out of the station entrance to the path next to the shore of the lake (about a two minute jog). The sunset was brilliant now. Setting down behind the Swiss Alps on the other side of the lake, it was totally an amazing experience. I just stood there watching it (while Ollie was doing his own sunset photography), thinking why I don’t get moments like this back home and how much I wished Olga was here to experience this with me. The sky was then covered all in red for a few moments before darkness covered the lake. You could say me and Ollie are sun worshippers. Well, I just love the effect and romance which comes with it.
After walking back into Lindau and pass the port where a statue and lighthouse looks out to the lake from its harbour walls, we wanted to get something quick to eat but once again, the only place open was McDonald’s! I am getting so fed up with eating this stuff. But it was very cheap so I ordered a few items from the €1 menu. After that it was time to head back to Friedrichshafen, kill some more time at the lake and then head to the airport for our late evening flight back to Stansted.
