A Spontaneous Mini Meet up & More Carnaval!
Today, Brett and I were off to Dublin, Ireland. YEAH! New country for me! :-) Wally (gemini59) had been communicating back and forth about trying to meet up since I was unable to meet him last trip and he was so kind to take time off and come down to visit us, even though it was only for a couple hours. We got up early and Brett tried to be sweet and make me breakfast. I finally realized how bad he really is in the kitchen! :P We had bought these little pancakes that were supposed to be just warmed up but poor Brett managed to make BBQ grill coals out of them! LOL. We might've been able to throw them as little frisbees but afraid they would've broken his windows! :-) Awww, poor Brett - it was really sweet though and I still ate them since he did make them for me! :-)
We got ready and arrived at the train station right on time! We found Wally right away and turns out Keiko (keikocreative) was going to be joining us but she didn't arrive until 2:30! WOW.
.what a nice surprise! We wandered across the street and found a restaurant we could sit at and wait for her. I was starving so Brett and I ordered sandwiches and a beer. Wally had brought us both a gift which we then proceeded to open and I have to say, I was stunned. Talk about sweet and wonderful! Wally brought me a Dean Koontz book in Dutch - he looked at my profile and saw that Koontz was my favorite author! What an incredibly sweet gesture!! He brought Brett a Tom Clancy book. We had Wally sign both books and of course, had to take pics with them! :DTime flew and next thing you know, Wally gets a call that Keiko has arrived! We had a great lunch and I really enjoyed getting to talk to both of them.
We then decided to go wander the main bar street to see the rest of the Carnaval costumes. What a difference from Saturday night! The costumes were much more elaborate - Brett thinks many of the people were those in attendance in Maastricht due to the high attention to detail on their costumes. There were some funny adventures through the streets - the crazy guy in the pink tutu who wanted to take a pic with Keiko, some guy throwing a hat on Wally, Keiko getting coaxed into a group out front of a bar for more pictures, and as we were walking back, the crazy guys in the pink jackets who yeah, well, uh...had an interesting positioned doll on their cart. LOL. And let's not forget the Viking guys who were using the outdoor toilets (which are the strangest thing I've seen by the way) and one of them catching Brett taking photos. NICE!! HAHA.It was already time to go and we had to head out. :-( Keiko stopped to pick up food for her hubby and we said our goodbyes. What a fun surprise and I can't thank Keiko and Wally enough for coming all the way to Eindhoven for just a couple hours to see us! It was a wonderful time and I hope to do it again soon!!
