Homeee! (48 degrees!!)
After some VERY rough turbulance we finally landed safely back in Melbourne!
We could see nothing once we crossed into Victoria as they had been having serious bushfires, was just a smoky haze which covered for miles and miles.
We stepped off the plane and it was 48 degrees celcious (unsure what that converts to) aka so, SO HOT.
It was later named the iconic "Black Saturday" as the aftermath of the bushfires was horrendous.
I actually work for the Country Fire Authority (CFA). Once I got back to work it was absolutely flat out. Every line of the phone system was ringing and I was by myself to answer them as other staff in the office had been deployed elsewhere for their assistance. People screaming and crying to you on the phone is not fun. Taking people's last words isnt fun. Especially when you can do nothing for them, you just answer phone calls. How do you choose which line to answer? And even now as I write this blog it brings back so many memories.
