The status of this land is not clear. Only on the paper) 2 countries accepted independence of Abkhazia: Russia and Venezuela) It means that nobody can visit the country except russians. The border with Georgia in the east is closed from what I know. People of Abkhazia are very welcoming (not spoiled by lots of tourists) they speak Russian more often than their own language. The climate here is actually subtropical. We were in february and took sunbathes on the beaches, and our brave friend Valya even swam)) Couldn't believe it was SU territory.
