Headin' south to SoFlo for Spring Break: beach, fun and drinks for 5 DAYS!! Part One of my Spring Break 2009

AN Early Morning..

Bluegrass Airport, Lexington, KY

we flew outta Bluegrass at 5:30 and landed in a hour at ATL.

Theres a big reason why im not a big fan of Hartsfield Jackson airport...we almost missed our flight cuz of the way they speak on the intercom. i noticed it was one of those computer intercom voices and none of us really paid attention to our flight boarding until we noticed near our gate that there was a lotta peeples boarding already

1 hour delay to take off

apparently there was an overage in baggage and we didnt take off til after 930ish...

welcome to Key West!!!

As soon as we landed, we headed outside for smoke break before we picked up our bags. First things i noticed was that this was a small airport. secondly were the pink taxis and thirdly everyone was nearly wearin shorts and flip-flops, everyone!!!

Corvette...how about a mini-van??

All the rental places in the airports only had corvettes and bmws left to rent, which was beyond our budget so we waited an hour for a budget/alamo van to come get us and we rented a white pimpin mini-van!!!

Staying at the Holiday INN...

Our hotel was right across the beach and had  a restauarnt and convience store right by it. we were however staying at a seperate building across from the lobby.

DUVAL STREET.....

later that afternoon we went to our pool which i easily was bored after 15 minutes but managed to stay there for 2 hours... and we later hit the strip to world famous Duval Street!

Duval is the longest street i have ever walked along to where there were bars, restaurants and shops, i think it was over a mile long.. We would eat lunch/dinner at Jakes? or steak and had fresh shrimp while watching parts of the March Madness. WV had jus lost the night before so i had high hopes for WI and Marquette...

Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum; Key West, FL
If you have a couple days to spare in Key West, during the day sometime if you bore of Duval Street get on Whitehead and walk toward the famed Southernmost point and you may find a line of people outside a house of one of the most famed tenants of the island, Ernest Hemingway ( or as i referred to him, Ernie!)

Me and my friends walked over to Ernie's house and discovered they offered a bunch of discounts, military and student!! Which was awesome as me and Rachel had both but Phalen didnt!!

The infamous 6-toed cats roam and longe around the grounds almost like lions at a zoo, if you leave the alone they will like you more...i say this cuz i can only imagine they are the most 'touched' cats in the world and with as many as hundreds of visitors a day, i can see why we did not see as many.

Okay..the house. It has a beautiful villa setting, awesome pool and a garden that i can def see Ernie writing "The Old Man and the Sea" or my fav book " A farewell to Arms"

So there are interesting cats to see and visit and the Villa is amazing!

I've not been here but I did visit his house in Cuba. They've got the boat there that he used to travel between the two. :)
