Alishan
After arriving at Chiayi train station, we decided to check out the famous Alishan train ride, but seeing how it didn't leave for another hour and a half, we bargained with a van driver to drive the two and a half hour trip up the mountain for 200 NT each. Fog meant visibility equals zero, literally to the point where I couldn't see my hands if stretched out way before me. And narrow, winding mountain paths made that van ride one of the scariest in my life. Arrived in beautiful Alishan where the afternoon consisted of a four hour hike.
4:30am wakeup call to see the sunrise. As luck would have it, ours was the only morning that week that had clear skies. Perfection. Beautiful, and the view of the mountains from high above the clouds made me wish that I had a professional camera and knew how to use it.
