First stop after dropping off our stuff at Taipei Hostel was to hit Shilin Night Market. Never have dinner in Taipei, just hop on the metro in any direction, and you are bound to hit a night market. Great food, seafood, pastries, drinks, and the best thing is everything is so cheap when you can divide by 33. Other night markets to consider: Raohe has great ribs and this really delicious bun stand at one end which is jam packed with customers. And Gongguan (?), there's this bubble tea stand called frog something, best bubble tea in the world. it's addicting. go where the line is longest, can't go wrong. Stomachs satisfied, step two was Taipei 101. Warning: the building is really tall, which makes it look like it's really close, which fools you into thinking it's within walking distance. It's not. Ran into a light festival on our way back.
Next morning was National Palace Museum, which with our free youth travel card obtained at airport was half off admissions. Followed complimentary English tour for about an hour before realizing we'd make much better time by going through the museum ourselves. Followed by CKS Memorial where Saturday and Valentine's Day collided into some tv station festival. Wax nightclub, 350 NT cover and all you can drink, packed by midnight although the crowd needed a few drinks to get the dancing underway.
