West MacDonnell Ranges & Gorges
I was the first one who were picked up for the tour to 'West MacDonnell Ranges & Gorges'. It was just 6.50am and I was a little bit tired.
After me we picked up a family and a few people later a women came into the car but before she entered she started to complain: 'I'm very disapointed'. This was because she couldn't sit with her 2 sisters because the bus was full. She made herself a little bit stupid in the group. After we had to drive to the office of the travelagency because the driver had to get the lunch for us, she went out of the bus and start complaining at the office. Well we did not hear anything of course, but everyone knew it!
The first stop we made was at the Grave of Flynn. This is with a stone which was stolen and I don't know it exactly but nice to see.
Then we drove further to the first real place to stop. Here were some 'mountains' really beautiful to see. Now it's all full with sand but normally there should be water. Because it's to dry in australia it's impossible to have it again. Or there must happen a miracle! We walked around and saw some walabi's. Very nice to see it!A few minutes later we had the second stop, it was not far away. You could walk around, which took about 30 minutes. It was very beautiful as well, between the mountains. But I would like to get faster in walking so I tried to do it. I did it, but it was really heavy. When you are at the end of this route you see two mountains. I'm sure a lot of you guys have seen many pictures of Jordan, the hidden city Petra? Well this looks a little bit the same except the hidden city! And I'm sure Jordan is much more pretty but it was great to see! When we were back at the bus we got some morning tea and something to eat.
In 30 minutes was the next stop. When you are Down Under all the distances seems so close. Even when you have to drive for 2 hours or something like that it seems so normal, even for me! Because when you would have say to me in the Netherlands that we've to drive for 2 hours, it's too long!! Oke, the stop: Ellery Creek. There was a posibility to go swimming. The water is really cold but very nice. I didn't swim but went into the water with my feets, and my jeans! It's deeper then you think haha. I was back at the bus very early since I never want to make a mistake as at the Great Ocean Road. So I'm always on time hihi.
At the afternoon we had a lunch which was really nice, had 2 sandwhiches, with flies! That's the only negative thing of Australia; outback! All the flies, that makes you crazy but it is definitly worth it.
After the sandwhiches you could choose between 2 route to walk! the short one or the longer one. I decided to do the longest one. Which took like 20 minutes to get up and 15 minutes to get down. It was so really heavy but great. Up in the mountains you had a beautiful view and it was very windy, but that was lovely!01.30pm we drove further to the last stop and arrived there at 2pm. This was a place where you could go swimming again or take something to eat or to drink. I took something to drink and sat in the shadow and watch the view. There was a posibility to do a helicopter flight but this time I did not do it :(
In the evening I met seraina again, here at the pub next to my hostel! it was a great day!
