Raining in Bahrain
Oh, I slept for 12 hours which make you feeling so much better. Daniel was already gone to his work. When I woke up I took a shower and prepared myself for going to the city. Some sightseeing. When we drove yesterday to his home I saw a very beautiful mosque. This mosque is the biggest one of Bahrain. I decided to walk there. It was at the end of the street. I made some pictures of the mosque and walked around it. But it start raining. Before I left I already told my parents: Bet, that when I’m there it will be raining and the good weather will be in the Netherlands.. Yes, it was like this!! A lot of drives asked me if I needed to go with them, so they could bring me. But no, I don’t like to do that. I took a taxi to ‘Bab al Bahrain’. This is the old centre with many souks and a lot of nice things to see.
Unfortunately the ground was dirty and it was difficult to walk since it was raining a lot and there was a lot of mud.
But I still wanted to see this place so I walked here. It is so strange to see the rich and poor people living together. A lot of old houses, falling down with the most beautiful cars. This was very impressive to see and important. It gives a good image of the country.
Now I’m at the computer of Daniel, typing this. But there is still one question in my mind: who are the originally inhabitants of Bahrain? I do see so many nationalities that I don’t know it anymore.
Later that evening we went to a big shopping centre. It was amazing. There were 3 floors and so much bigger than normal. It was difficult to don’t buy anything but I survived. We needed to have dinner so we went to the 3rd floor. It is insane what you find over here. There are about 20 simple restaurants where you can buy everything what you want. Think about Mc Donald’s, Indian, Arabic, Turkish and all this stuff.
Then Daniel showed me ‘the strip’ where you can find shops which are open 24/7, so we could buy some stuff. Bahrain has a lot of surprises, everyone is getting awake in the evening, which I really did not expect. It was a good day.
