Philip Island; Penguin parade
Penguins, Penguins! I really was looking forward for this day to see a bit more about the surrounding.
In the morning I searched for a pharmacy to buy my anti biotica. The second one did have what I needed so bought it. Then i went to the meeting point where the trip could started but I was there 30 minutes before departure so it was a bit too early.
Jim was the bus driver again so when he saw me he was waving at me and I thought the day would be fun again. Unfortunately the group wasn't so good and it was a bit boring! :( with a bit of trouble we moved out of Melbourne on the way to philip Island. About 3.15pm we arrived at the first stop, a small island called Churchill where we picked up some people. It was really cold so I bought myself a shawl.
Then we drove further to the second stop; Philip Island. This was a kind of wildlifepark where you could see a few koalas. But there were just 6 and 10 tourist around it so it was more wasting the time then it was nice. I walked abit further to be sure that there were no other people around and I was at a good time back. Well I bought a tshirt there just to get it a bit warmer. It was like 15 degrees.
At 5.20pm we arrived at a small town called Cowes. We had our dinner over here. I just ate a pizza which was oke and had a Ice Coffee. It was really boring and we had 1.5 hour to spend over here. I walked back to the bus and Jim start talking to me. He explaind me why the hospital system is so bad! The simple reason for that is; they just dont get paid so much.
Normally he is a doctor but he just works like twice a month in the hospital and the rest at the bus. Normally you would say the hospital is better for the money but it's not. If we make this clear. By working at the hospital you earn for example $40.000 a year. And the busdriver gets $65000 a year! So it's much better. they just don't care about people so much, except when they are dying.. how strange.at 6.40pm we drove to the penguin parade but we got a little suprise of him. With a big bus we drove on a very hilly small way to see all the walabi's and nice animals in wild. That was great to see. Then we drove to the penguin parade. As advice he gave us that we have to wait and relax and don't sit in the front of it because you will see just a few penguins. If you are standing at the end you will see a lot, that's what he said.
So I did what he said but it was too cold to enjoy it. I didn't see so many penguins unfortunately. But the penguins i've seen were really sweet and that was nice to see. About 8.45pm I walked back to the bus but we had to wait before a yellow line. There were 3 penguins standing somewhere and they had to go to the otherside so when they were there we could walk. haha it made me think about the story about a rabbit and a turtle.. strange ye ;)
